How to look beautiful without makeup: A simple guide

Hey everyone. Its me again. I know i know. i usually only share fashion tips, tricks and news. But i found this new product and i just have to share. The pinknights oil absorbing stick . OMG where has this been for my whole life?!  For reference, I have dehydrated, oily, acne-prone skin. Through some research I discovered I've damaged the moisture barrier recently with sun, tretinoin, Neutrogena Deep Clean, and then adding salicylic acid. Sigh. haha. After overhauling my products to gentle cleansers and moisturisers from Paula's Choice, I'm still getting oil overproduction on my forehead and t-zone about 2-3 hours after my AM cleanse and moisturise . It only arrived yesterday but I used it yesterday afternoon and this morning and it is great!! You roll it around on the oily spots and it absorbs excess oil. It was something i brought on a whim because i hate having an oily face, but at the same time those blotting sheets are so so wasteful and carrying them around is a nig...

Is the Classic Chanel the new Hermes birkin?

Its not secret as far as bags are concerned the creme della creme for any fashion lover,  is the Hermes Birkin. In part, because it is such a unique bag, but also because it's not easy to get your hands on one. Like at all.  For a hand bag that carries a price tag starting at $20,000 its not a cheap bag by no means,  but even if you spend half your life saving for the bag. You cant walk into the Hermes store with your 20k in hand and ask for a Birkin. That is a fast way to be told 'Sorry we don't have that bag'. Just like the Da Vinci code, you need to have analysed the solar flare index, made sure the air temperature is above 24.5 degrees and that is 9am on the fourth Friday of the month.  To be offered a Birkin, you need to reach a status level, that is you spend a certain amount of money at the store throughout a year (and it also helps if you become friends with a sales associate) to be called up when the store receives stock. While Hermes doesn't actually ...

Current fashion trends from a professional stylist

It's no secret the home of fashion and style are the forefront of most fashionistas minds when it comes to September. Not just known for being the home of the 3 P's (that is pizza, pasta and pane or bread), Italy is the birth place of high fashion. From the high end labels to small boutique shops, it is a quote-unquote rule that Italian's know how to dress. But whether you are keeping up with the Kardashians or the Joneses, fashion especially on the high end scale moves rather quickly and you can become outdated in an instant.  I sat down with a professional stylists to see their views on the current ins and outs of what is trending in the fashion world. And spoiler, being stylish has never been cheaper than what it is right now.  From a professional stylist, the most current fashion trend is to accentuate your accessories. Yes! that is correct. You could be wearing a $10 plain top with jeans, but a paired with expensive high heels  or designer belt, and your whole ...

COVID impact on luxury

2020 has been one giant... i'm just going to say it Cluster duck of a year. But from trial comes triumph, with some companies absolutely flourishing and some gurgling down the toilet. The unfortunate need for companies to pivot, has left some with no choice but to close down. From fashion shows being streamed online, and shop closures. Luxury has relied heavily on their online presence to continue their revenue and trading through the pandemic. With many economist predicting an economic down turn, decrease in sales and all round shrinkage in the luxury niche.  I am of the opinion that the luxury category was only minimally affected by this crisis, and i think the recent black Friday sales have proved that the desire for luxury items is well and truly alive and well. With Valentino nearly selling out of their sale items within the first 48 hours.  I know crazy right?! and Valentino wasn't the only luxury brand that experienced literal sell out crowds, with Dior, Balenciag...

Louis Vuitton - really upping their game

Hello my fellow fashionistas,  Can i just say what we are all thinking. Louis Vuitton has really shown they are goals with their new releases. I think i added about 56 new things i need in my life - starting with the new introduction of woven patterned goods. Today i'm going to share with you my top 3 picks of bags in the new collection. how stunning is the pochette metise with this new woven pattern ? It also comes in an elegant burgundy and white. This new patter is now is all our favourite LV styles.  Ahh i honestly am falling in love with this bag with each breath i take. The next new design that i am absolutely  melting for is the Neonoe in this Coffee colour. The new concept behind the large monogram letters just adds a whole new level to the bag. The last one that is actually a new bag for LV Fold Tote PM . The versatility that this bag brings to the table is phenomenal.      It is easily a going out/ evening out bag folded in or even just a regular...

LV SS21 collection release

The new release of louis vuitton ss2 1 on October 7 has me seeings green. The spring inspired collection was the artistic genius of Nicholas Ghesquières. The stunning new pieces are shades of green. Keeping to the iconic monnogrammed LV theme the new designs are lifted adding to the collection of already stunning pieces. In yet another virtual show. The new way and safest way to showcase designers new looks.

Prada SS21

Prada has just released its newest SS21 collection - which is a first time collaboration with Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. When i first saw this collection my thought was -YIKES. And i honestly dont say that lightly. What purple flying frogs were these two thinking when they put this collection together?  Nearly every single shirt has the most forbidding, obvious, grungy badge sewn into the neck of the top of the Prada tag. Like you need to literally show people you are wearing a designer label shirt? For me designer fashion should be recognised because of the style, material, cut and sheer elegance  of the clothing - not because there is a giant sign hanging from my neck telling the world this is couture.  The following items to grace the runway were just as cringe as the predecessors. The thin parkers that looked like Prada labelled straight jackets - tying up at the back. The jumpers with perfect circles cut ou t all over it, wasn't too bad. But it really remi...

Tiffany at odds with LVMH

One of the partnerships to ever be struck in the high fashion world, occurred on the 6th of January this year. Arguably, with the pandemic sweeping through the globe, it was not a shock to see the one of the most prolific deals struck between jewellery giant Tiffany and co and the global conglomerate LVMH (which owns some of the most notable brands such as Louis Vuitton, möet and Dior) has suddenly been scrapped.  The scrapping of such a deal would seem as some put it - an unfortunate casualty of the COVID crisis, but this deal went far beyond just a simple changing of owners. LVMH brought tiffany for 16bn USD. Its not small feat and it also valued the shares of Tiffany and co at over $200 per share. Losing this deal would drastically change their share price value and not to mention would mean that Tiffany would lose some serious street cred. Its no secret that all high fashion luxury labels are owned by the LVMH bracket and to be associated then removed from that status wou...

Ralph Lauren report decrease in quarterly sales during pandemic

New York - 2020, Ralph Lauren Corp. The American Giant Ralph Lauren reported losses of $1.82 per share after the first quarter in the pandemic crisis, even greater than the pre-predicted $1.73 that analysts expected. The luxury clothing brand is scrambling even considering revamping  its structure to avoid the fate of their retail rivals that have not survived this new crisis.  The companies latest report showed a significant adjustment loss per share citing, its evaluating "long-term operating structure to align with our evolving stratgeic priorities", with the main focus surround 6 main areas; how to  organise teams, corporate  office, real estate footprint, product sales and overall portfolio brands.  "This strategic review is poised at setting up strategies for the next several years as not only the business but the world emerges from the current health crisis", Chief Executive Partice Louvet said. "We are making sure that we're set up to win. There i...

Chanel set to release a collection of mini bags

Coco Chanel was one of the most forward thinking icons within the fashion world at the turn of the 20th century.  Living ontop of her little shop, Coco Chanel dreamed of a future where she would see her bags and clothing adorning the rich and famous. What she didnt realise was her brand was set to become one of the most illustrious and sought after brands to ever integrate into the high fashion industry. Her hand quilted patterned bag and intertwining CC logo have been the most identifiable features and set up Chanel to really be the creme del la creme of the luxury industry.  But it is Chanel's announcement of their newest limited edition release that really has tongues wagging.  Chanel website  for more  Opening a box can be a decision on pandoras scale, Opening a box with Chanel's features emblazoned - the decision is already made.  What to expect, from Chanels limted edition box set is 4 mini bags that best represent Chanel. The case itself speaks volum...

Pandemic's effect on luxury

It's no secret the pandemic has had devastating effects across the board, on both human life and economically. But with many sectors taking a hit from forced closures and mass unemployment, the luxury market division is no stranger to taking one of the biggest hits during a crisis like this.  I know i for one, find that when my wage gets cut, or my hours scaled back my mode of thinking changes dramatically. Caring about purchasing anything that isn't deemed a necessity is suddenly pushed back until i have more sufficient funds or a stabler job prospective. Unfortunately, as much as i love to buy new designer bags, clothes and shoes the reality is they take a backseat to buying groceries, heating and mortgage repayments.  In the past, to combat this luxury brands have lowered their price to accomodate for the cut wages, job losses and all round shrinkage of the economy. They are lowered to the point where they are still expensive but less expensive than previous months. They ha...

Fendi x Mr.Doodle

The newest seasonal collection to drop from Fendi is the Fendi X Mr. Doodle. London based artist Sam Cox is the brain child behind the Mr. Doodle, his works consumer walls, furniture and many other surfaces. With a continued virus like pattern that seem to never end, his works are often referred to as 'graffiti spaghetti'. With a continuous cluster of characters, objects and patterns grouped together in a formation that seems forever growing.  Fendi has collaborated with Mr.Doodle to bring out a sensational collection which really encapsulates the novelty behind Mr.Doodles creativity.  From lining the Peakaboo bag to covering apparel in this brilliant 'graffiti spaghetti', this extremely limited collection is probably one of my favourite Fendi has released this year.

Fendi's newest collection

California Sky! The collection on so many peoples mind.  I must say i was incredibly surprised when Fendi dropped its latest collection,  the theme revolved around a muted black and white colour scheme. Which isnt the bright summery colour scheme i had predicted would come from Fendi - who in the past has been all about using colour as a way to express their brand. I have also found this new collection is probably one of the most afforable collections Fendi has ever brought out. With the ever present FF logo, this new collection showcases a collection that is elegant yet still modern.  I have to say, i am both pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of athleisure and similarly astounded that Fendi is really broadening its scope. This collection is also probably one of the most affordable collections Fendi has produced in a while.  Fabric leggings retailing for $790. Even though i haven't been a fan of knit in the past, i am really enjoying this new guitar bag. With a m...

Louis vuitton digital pre-launch

Louis Vuitton is extending their pre-launch party to a virtual audience, and i am in love. With a new pallet of seasonal colours, Louis Vuitton has new styles of the Dauphine (Pictured) in the original monogram canvas along with a wide array of colours.  The new edit also includes the new bad made famous by many instagram influencers, the LV point 9. This design has really changed the way LV is perceived by the younger generation, with a more milder toned bag without the canvas print, this new LV point 9 is a leather only bag with a large LV Logo. But my favourite new bag that has been added to the LV family is montosouris backpack, available in 3 absolutely stunning colours, dark grey brown (Tourterelle), white(creme) and black(noir).  This new backpacks will set you back a pretty penny, the online exclusive cost $3900. With the fashion house reinterpreting the 1994 iconic montsouris backpack - a golden buckle, playful yet subtle LV charm and leather interior the iconic membe...

Gucci - off the grid

In the last decade reusable materials have really been the focus of many within the fashion landscape. With Ralph Lauren pioneering this incentive by  introducing the 'Earth polo' incentive which has removed nearly 8 million bottles from the ocean, and recycled them into shirts. Gucci has officially jumped on this bandwagon with their newest collection, 'The sustainable collection'. Personally, i am really impressed with high fashion labels doing their best to really emphasis the global issue of recycling. The incentive by Ralph Polo was a real game changer in this landscape.  It was this driving force that really changed Gucci's new collection 'bringing positive change in order so secure our collective future'. The new collection is titled Gucci equilibrium - and it is their commitment to generate positive change for people and our planet. With a low key feel to each new piece created and in hughes of burnt organge, black and yellow this new collection comp...

Why Louis Vuittons Never full never fails.

The Neverfull is arguably Louis Vuitton's best selling bag. Not only because it is the most iconic in its monogramed prints, but it is the most recognisable bag because so many women have it on their arm. From new mum baby bags to the ever faithful work bag. Louis Vuitton managed to create a chic bag that fills almost everybodies needs.  i love that the Neverfull can fit so much, yet still maintain an elegant stylish feel about it. On the outside i have a designer bag on my shoulder, while inside i have my packed lunch, notebook, wallet and a book. My whole life fits in that one bag. It's convenient, it's flexible and most important it is a bag that grows with you throughout your life changes.  The price tag is not too steep as far as designer bags are concerned, sure the Neverfull will set you back $2000 but it is well worth it for a bag that can last through your different phases of life. With all these great qualities, it's not hard to see why the Neverfull is litera...

Dior proves COVID doesn't stop fashion

As this week marks arguably one of the most important weeks in the couture calendar, there is a tinge of sadness in the air. With current constraints the idea of hundreds of people cramped into convention centres and buildings was an unfathomable possibility. With usual catwalk shows on hold due to social distancing measures and  ateliers undergoing closures for periods of time, designers have been scrambling to adapt to this new modern world.  Enter digital fashion shows that not only showcase the most expensive fashion in the world, but also completely innovating the idea of brings couture for the masses.  Dior was the first notable couture company that dazzled the masses with their first ever fashion show. While it may seem strange for most to be watching the likes if designer Maria Grazia Chirui, completely wow the greater population with her latest collection. I for one loved this new idea, because someone like me, who isn't a fashion model, influencer of notable nam...

Is the vegan leather the new must have in affordable designer?

The Birkin and Kelly bags are hands down one of the most must haves that every hand bag lover dreams of one day owning, only minus the giant price tag. As much as these bags are stunningly beautiful, the price tag carries four too many zeros for my liking, and honestly as much as i love these bags the eyewatering price tag is somewhat off putting. I am not alone with my desire to one day own a Kelly, but in the meantime exploring different brands seem like a viable alternative.  The issues with hermes most sought after bags (Apart from the limited quantityness of them) each of these bags are made with crocodile skin, bovine, calf or even ostrich skin. Sustainability is the IT word in the fashion world. Finding a parallel crossroad where fashion can be both stylish and sustainable is something that designers are grappling with.  How to make handbags look stylish and elegant,  while still maintaining the integrity of being both sustainable and affordable?  Enter London...
