In the last decade reusable materials have really been the focus of many within the fashion landscape. With Ralph Lauren pioneering this incentive by introducing the 'Earth polo' incentive which has removed nearly 8 million bottles from the ocean, and recycled them into shirts. Gucci has officially jumped on this bandwagon with their newest collection, 'The sustainable collection'.
Personally, i am really impressed with high fashion labels doing their best to really emphasis the global issue of recycling. The incentive by Ralph Polo was a real game changer in this landscape.
It was this driving force that really changed Gucci's new collection 'bringing positive change in order so secure our collective future'.
The new collection is titled Gucci equilibrium - and it is their commitment to generate positive change for people and our planet.
With a low key feel to each new piece created and in hughes of burnt organge, black and yellow this new collection comprises recycled materials/ trims and uses recycled, organic, bio-based/ sustainably sourced materials including regenerated nylon sewing thread. Each of the pieces support the high fashion's house to commitment to sustainability with concepts relating back to the houses vision for circular production.
However, the price of sustainability will set you back a pretty penny. With most pieces starting from $1500 and moving upwards, it does not come cheap to be sustainable. But can you really put a price on our future?
I for one applaud Gucci's movement toward a cleaner more sustainable future and i cannot wait to see the new collections to come.
